Facebook Down Update: Facebook, Instagram and Threads Logins Restored Before Suffering Massive Outage Globally

Social Media Platforms like Facebook and instagram owned by Meta were reported to be down on late Tuesday evening across worldwide. Hundreds of thousands of users worldwide failed to access them for around two hours on Tuesday morning. Over half a million Facebook outages alone were reported on the website ‘DownDetector’ between 10 am to 11 am. The users complained that they were kicked out from three Meta-owned social platforms at 10 am ET and were not able to get back in. Some users even faced issues logging in to their Meta Quest headsets, too. Facebook down update at 11-43 am was – According to some users, they were able to get back into Facebook and Messengers but service remained spotty. Instagram and Threads were still having issues.

Facebook down update at 12: 05 am : All services seemed to be back up.

Facebook kicked users out of their accounts, and Instagrammers couldn’t update their feeds. Threads showed an error message: “Oops, something went wrong. Give it another shot.” Lots of reports flooded in on Downdetector for all three apps, and NetBlocks, tracking networks, confirmed the problem was worldwide. WhatsApp, however, seemed to dodge the issue and continued to work smoothly.

According to 9to5Mac.com, Meta Quest headsets also faced issues, booting users out. YouTube, not owned by Meta, experienced downtime too, but some users reported experiencing it if they logged into their Google accounts first.

Meta acknowledged the issue on its status page with a message at 10:17 am ET, reading: “We are aware of an issue impacting Facebook Login. Our engineering teams are actively looking to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.” As of 12:07 pm ET, the status page said, Meta is “recovering from an earlier outage impacting Facebook Login, and services are in the process of being restored.”

Meta communications head Andy Stone posted to X, saying the company was “aware people are having trouble accessing our services.” Stone has since posted an update on X to “apologize for any inconvenience” caused by the “technical issue” that prevented people from logging in to Meta’s services.

Users flocked to ‘X’ to find out what was happening with Facebook and Messenger. They swarmed over social media sites to ask questions, complain and make jokes and #facebookdown was trending.

Meta faced its biggest outage problem back in 2021. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder, said sorry for the mess it caused then. During that time, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram were all down for nearly six hours.
